FOSS/GRASS 2004
Presented by FOSS/GRASS 2004 International Organizing Committee

The GRASS/FOSS Conference 2004 will be held in Bangkok, Thailand on September 12- 14, 2004 at Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. The following suggestions for transportation may be useful for participants arriving at Bangkok International Airport (BIA). From BIA to Chulalongkorn University, we suggest you the following choices of transportation.

Airport Associate Limousine (AAC Limousine): AAC has 8 service counters spread out at the arrival halls in both terminal one and terminal two of the international airport. They use new cars; you will be charged 650 Baht exclusive 70 Baht of expressway fee for a drive to Chulalongkorn University. (By the way, there are other limousine service companies but the fare may be higher). (Organizer's comment: most convenient)

Public Taxi: Taxi is convenient and can be found all over Bangkok. After you exit from customs, look for the Taxi stand in front of the Arrival Halls International & Domestic Passenger Terminals. The meter in the taxi will start with 35 Baht initially; the fare will start to increase after roughly 1.5 kilometers of travel (less if traffic is heavy, a common problem in Bangkok). You also can have the driver use the expressway to save a lot of time by avoiding traffic; it is worth to pay a little more and you can get the toll receipt. Approximately, taxi fare from the Airport to the University should be 200-300 Baht including expressway toll. (Organizer's comment: convenient)

Airport bus service: The Bus Stop is at platform of International & Domestic Passenger Terminals. There are four routes of the Airport bus, take a bus Route A4: Airport ? Hualumpong; 100 Baht for the fare. There are Airport buses every 40 minutes from 9.00am to 7.30pm everyday. Airport Bus Route A4 will pass Siam Square, Maboonkrong Center (MBK) and then, the University. You can take a short taxi ride or walk into the campus. (Organizer's comment: cheap but still convenient)

Public transportation : The public bus stop is in front of the Airport. Take a Bus No. 29 and get off at the University. The fare should be around 15-20 Baht for air-conditioned bus (depending on distance) or 3.50 Baht and 5.00 Baht on non-air-conditioned (the fares are always the same). Buses are often very crowded so, do not use them if you have a lot of luggage. Public buses are not recommended for first time visitors. (Organizer's comment: cheapest)
